Toronto Review publishes criticism and fiction cultivated in a flourishing local literary scene. TR is collectively-run, writer-founded, and community-oriented, with deep ties to the Canadian artistic landscape. Our primary ambition is to stimulate and support innovation, solidarity, and excellence among writers based in Toronto, Canada, and beyond to promote conversation with a global literary community.
TR is inspired by the creative resources of the city we call home: Toronto. We understand literature and criticism’s power to facilitate connections and expand horizons. Our goal is to help local writers reach the broad readership that their work deserves, and thus our mandate promises that at least half of all our yearly publications be by Canadians or about Canadian cultural production. We celebrate the borderless energies of literary culture, we want to tell the world what is happening in Toronto and we want the world to write us back.
Toronto Review is operated by Toronto Review Inc., an incorporated nonprofit in the province of Ontario. We are a volunteer-run magazine dedicated to transforming this city’s literary culture. As a small, independent literary review, TR depends on reader support to continue publishing sharp, engaged, and inventive writing. When you donate to TR, you support a dynamic climate of ideas, literacy, and creativity.
For larger contributions, please consider donating via cheque. Donations by cheque can be made out to Toronto Review Inc. and mailed to:
